Come celebrate Sanya Glisic’s new artist book Struwwelpeter at North Branch Projects. Embracing the tactile nature of the project, guests are invited to sit down and illustrate their own imaginative creatures. Drawings will be included in North Branch’s ongoing community binding project.

Struwwelpeter, first published in Germany in 1844, contains cautionary tales for children with overly exaggerated consequences for misbehavior. Artist and illustrator Sanya Glisic, while a Resident Artist at Spudnik Press Cooperative, has re-imagined the book with exquisite, playful illustrations that capture the dark, often morbid sensibilities of the tales.

Sanya Glisic will continue binding her book during North Branch’s community binding sessions Tuesday March 29 and Thursday March 31 from 3-7pm.

Sanya Glisic is best known for her silkscreens, illustrations, and poster design, including the Zodiac-Sideshow Collection based on the 12 Astrological signs. She is originally from Banja Luka, Bosnia. In 2007, she received her BFA in Illustration from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She currently lives in Chicago, printing, volunteering and occasionally teaching at Spudnik Press Cooperative, while working on art and illustration projects. www.sanyaglisic.com
